Welcome Dream Achiever Omar Cortez

Omar grew up in the small town of Raymondville Texas and is the youngest of five children. Growing up, Omar never thought much about going to college primarily because of the cost and he didn’t exactly have stellar grades. However, two things in his life encouraged him to pursue college; the motivation from his family and teachers, and his experience with his high school Explorer program where he had a chance to learn about law enforcement. Omar presently attends Texas A&M University Kingsville and works part-time at El Jefe’s Transport Co. to help with expenses. Although his major is Agriculture Science (his second favorite subject after law enforcement), he is also taking several courses in Criminal Justice as he has set his sights on becoming a Game Warden. Omar has also become a part of the Texas Game Warden Law Enforcement Internship program where he’s been able to observe firsthand the role of Game Wardens on the job. Omar is slated to graduate in December 2020 and hopes to enter the Game Warden Academy after graduation. Omar wanted to become a Dream Achiever to show and provide a better life for his family. Omar has a girlfriend of five years, Miranda, and a four-year-old daughter whom he says motivates him every day.
