Chiquita Board, Program Services Coordinator
Chiquita Board has been actively involved in financial education and financial capability initiatives, asset-building initiatives and non-profit administration for over eighteen years and continually lends her expertise to various community-based organizations. Formally, she served as the National Education Director for Get Checking™, a national program, for the unbanked/underbanked. Under her leadership, the financial education initiative helped the unbanked, provided essential leadership to the program’s 164 community-based partners supervised over 100 educators facilitating Get Checking classes nationally. Get Checking graduation rates doubled and over 5,300 consumers received financial education and opened deposit accounts at mainstream financial institutions in the Georgia market alone. Ms. Board was selected by eFunds Corporation as one of the first recipients of the Get Checking Recognition of Excellence Award.
She started her career as a County Extension Agent with University of Georgia Cooperative Extension in delivering multiple financial education programs, managing partner relations, and identifying funders to expand programs to meet demand, increased funding 51%. She has consulted with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, Disaster Housing Assistance Program, Emory Center for Partnerships Office, Marietta Housing Authority, National Center for Training, Support and Technical Assistance, NCS Pearson, Operation HOPE, Inc., SunTrust Bank, United Way of Greater Atlanta, and Wells Fargo.
Ms. Board has a BS in Business Administration. She is married to Michael and they have five adult children together. She loves to travel, eat fine foods, and learn new cultures. Teri Ruffino, Administrative Assistant
Teri Ruffino has worked with the Dream Come True as an administrative assistant since 2012.
Ms. Ruffino was born in Houston, Texas, but has lived in multiple cities prior to settling down in Austin, Texas.
She has always had a deep interest in the arts and began her studies in art and design in Santa Monica, California which eventually led her to art school in Exeter, England, where she resided for 6 years.
She has predominately worked in small galleries helping with events and spent many years managing a French café in San Francisco, California. Teri also had the privilege of working at Exeter Cathedral, where she helped with events and formal tea service for visiting honored guests.
Teri has now happily settled into her role as a South Austin mom and thoroughly enjoys being a part of the Dream Come True family.
